The Fallen 15 and Columbus Chapter 500 of the Military Order of the Purple Heart (MOPH) have joined together again this year for the 3rd Annual Purple Heart 5k. This will be another great night celebrating with military members and the community.
The unique race start time of 9pm will serve as a completely new experience for many runners. This time was chosen to represent the solemnity of the Purple Heart Medal, an award only earned through being wounded in combat in defense of the United States of America. The race will begin and end at Genoa Park, downtown Columbus.
We will be honoring the Merchant Marines of WWII. They played a crucial role in WWII and a surviving Merchant Marine Soldier will be joining us at the finish line.
